THE LAND WATCH STORY

1987

In 1987, the Hill Family were in the midst of a year long caravanning trip around Australia when they decided to stop into Blackall, Queensland. The stop in Blackall resulted in them meeting the Walker family on their 40,000 acre farm, this turned into them living and working on the farm for the next 6 month. This would turn into a lifetime friendship between the families followed by many family holidays to the Blackall property.

2015

After spending countless school holidays in Blackall, James Hill saw firsthand the challenges faced by farmers in monitoring and protecting their property. Inspired by these challenges, he began using his security installation background to experiment with security cameras powered by solar panels that could be able to withstand the rugged Australian outback. He registered the business name Land Watch Australia.

2017

In 2017, Land Watch Australia was officially incorporated. The initial years were challenging but rewarding, as James focused on building and testing different equipment to handle the vast landscapes of Australia.

2019

In 2019, the business took a significant step forward when James’ younger brother, John Hill, joined the company. The Hill family’s support played a crucial role in the company’s growth. Family dinners often turned into brainstorming sessions, with the latest developments in camera technology and field performance being hot topics of discussion.

2021

In 2021, Land Watch was given a new look and was finding it’s feet in the agricultural industry. Over the next few years, following John’s lead, the other Hill brothers, Dave and Daniel, eventually joined the team. As the company continued to grow, it remained committed to innovating and providing top-notch security solutions for rural Australia, establishing a reputation in the agriculture industry for quality and reliability.

2023

2023 saw Land Watch head over the ditch to New Zealand to attend the very first field day in Hamilton!

Current Day

Today, Land Watch stands testament to James' vision and dedication, now being Australia and New Zealand's leading remote camera provider. Their combined efforts helped scale the business, which by now have grown to a team of over 20 dedicated professionals. From small farms to expansive cattle stations, Land Watch Australia's cameras provide peace of mind to property owners, ensuring they can keep an eye on what's important.
